37 - Setting the Points
The engine was up on my electrical workbench this afternoon. I hooked up an old AVO meter and set the points. All very straight forward using a DTI for accuracy. Points gap 0.4 mm Opening 3mm before TDC
Your electrical workbench reminds me of why I installed an electronic ignition in my little Campera. It was a Powerdynamo system. I love it when it starts with one kick. One less thing to worry about. I commend you on your little tiny fingers and screwdrivers and feeler gauges and your uncanny ability to see in the dark behind that flywheel...
On the otherhand...it does feel good to be original..
When I mounted my electronic ignition I had the rotor off and on at least five times...thats how you time it...you line up a couple of dots, and if they don't line up, you do it again...

Well the rotor was of and on about six times before I got it right. Of course the proof of the puddings yet to come when I try to start it. !!
